The Grand Strand
The Grand Strand, as the Myrtle Beach area is commonly called, stretches for 60 miles along the South Carolina coast and encompasses many communities within the two South Carolina counties of Horry and Georgetown, and some even include North Carolina's Brunswick County. Each community has its own identity and unique qualities.
Besides relaxing in the sand and getting a great tan, you can learn how to dance the Shag, explore unique shopping areas large and small, or even try your luck on one of the Casino boats that offer Las Vegas thrills. You can make your beach vacation even more exciting by chartering a fishing boat or going for a parasail ride. Central Myrtle Beach is where you will find the new Boardwalk, lined with shops, cafes, and amusements. During the summer the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk offers free entertainment and plenty to do.
If the beaches are a little too sandy for your taste, the nearby Water Parks offer a pleasant but exciting change. Still too hot? Head over to Ripley's Aquarium and spend a few hours gazing at a spectacular array of aquatic animals.
There is so much to see and do here that your vacation will be an unforgettable experience at Myrtle Beach.
